Appearance
Small bird with dark brown upperparts and white underparts
Prominent thick bill and deeply forked tail
Size: about 11 cm

මෙරට වී කුරුලු විශේශ පහක් හමු වන අතර, ඔවුන් අතරින් පුල්ලි වී කුරුල්ලා (Spotted Munia / Scaly-breasted Munia) සහ පිට සුදු වීකුරුල්ලා හෙවත් කලු වී කුරුල්ලා (White-backed Munia) නීතියෙන් ආරක්ශිත නොවේ. කඳුකර වී කුරුල්ලා (Hill Munia / Black-throated Munia)

Range: Found from Indian subcontinent, #China, mainland Southeast #Asia to Sumatra

The white-#rumped #munia is common and widespread throughout Southeast Asia. It is very adaptable, residing in open woodland, grassland, scrublands, and agricultural lands, too. It is a seed eating bird, as the large bill suggests, and forms large flocks that can become a real nuisance, chowing down on millet and similar grains. Interestingly, these birds also feed on algae.
