Former national security adviser, Lord Peter Ricketts, says that Vladimir Putin has 'achieved none of his objectives' in the Ukraine war.

He adds: "In the big picture, Russia has in an important sense already lost and Ukraine is now going to be a pro-western democratic country for the long term".

Ukraine is marking its Independence Day today, with King Charles and other world leaders sending messages of support to President Zelenskyy to commemorate 34 years since the nation declared independence from the Soviet Union.
